In a fast paced and highly competitive world, busy pre-professionals need a place for self-reflection.
Blabbl is a free and personal space for busy pre-professionals to keep track of their thoughts and perform self-reflection. It provides an uncensored outlet for an efficient and convenient way of documenting, organizing, and reflecting on thoughts.
The goal of this project is to create a mobile web app revolving around the studio topic of Mindfulness, which encompasses the concepts of attention and awareness. We want the user to be time aware, but not time restricted. Our free-write interface implements a graphic timer from Codepen and a non-interruptive alert to gently remind users when their set time is up, though they can feel free to keep writing.
Don’t be afraid to blabble, just keep writing
The inspiration for this app draws upon our personal experiences with bullet journaling and we wanted to create a digitized version of this experience. Based on the idea of timed free-write as a tool for reflection, our App intends to encourage and guide users to be aware of their thoughts and promote self-understanding.
My role is primarily to design interface layout, assist with coding in HTML/CSS and Javascript, as well as conduct A/B testing through Google Analytics. The final project is deployed on Heroku.

Reflections
Through this experience, we learned that effective communication and time management is key to group work. In the real world, team members would try to evenly distribute work to those specialized in a specific area, but in a fast-paced course, this may not happen. That is why we learned it was crucial to be honest in our skills and weaknesses. We also learned how to distribute work based on our strengths while self-teaching skills that we were weak at. We would also like to do more user testing in each part of our design process to make changes early on so that we can devote our time and effort to more desired features. Some successful planning choices we made were keeping up with our development plan as much as possible and updating it if there were any changes.
